Tennis referee training courses 2008

We are pleased to announce that we have secured the following dates for referee training. This course is designed for anyone who would like to become a qualified referee to referee at LTA sanctioned tournaments.

Referee seminar (part 1) - Sunday 13th January 2008, 9.45 - 17.00 at oxstalls tennis centre

Referee accreditation (part 2) - Sunday 27th April 2008, 9.30 - 17.00 at oxstalls tennis centre

The first step to becoming a trained and qualified referee is to book a space on the referee seminar. The referee seminars will provide you with more information on the rules, code of conduct and procedures used in refereeing tournaments. This course is free of charge and takes place at oxstalls indoor tennis centre on Sunday 13th January. Spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis, so don?t delay if you are keen to book a space.

After you complete this date, you will be advised to carry out 4 days voluntary work experience assisting a qualified referee at a tournament ? we can help provide a list of all tournaments in this county and other counties where you can carry your work experience out. You will also need to complete a criminal records bureau (CRB) enhanced disclosure. This can be done via your local LTA county office or the LTA.

Once you have completed the necessary hours, you can enroll onto the referee accreditation course; we have one scheduled for this county on Sunday 27th April at oxstalls indoor tennis centre. This course is free, but to pass you will need to sign up to Association of British Tennis Officials (ABTO) which costs £20 for the year. Once you have passed the referee accreditation you will then be qualified to referee LTA sanctioned tournaments. LTA officiating will notify LTA county offices of those who are successful new referees, so that they can get in touch to book you and pass your details onto tournament organisers in their county.

At this time please download a letter and booking form inviting you to sign up for the referee seminar, those of you who sign up for the seminar will then be sent a booking form at a later date to book onto the referee accreditation.

If there is anyone who has attended the seminar and wishes to now book on the referee accreditation please let me know and I can send out the relevant booking form.

Please note that all booking forms to book your space on this course need to be sent to LTA officiating department (address on booking form) not ourselves.

If you do have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact myself, your local LTA County Office or the LTA Officiating Department.
